A newborn’s baptism is a time when family and friends gather to witness the important and joyous event. Such a time should be marked by a special gift, but many people don’t really know what sort of baptism gift would be appropriate. But it isn’t necessarily a time to invest large amounts of money, it’s really an occasion when “it’s the thought that counts”. A photo album, a handmade gift or a something personalized would be a gift that keeps giving throughout the years.

While a white or ivory album is a classic gift, a photo album that is colorful or unique could also be suitable for marking this special day. Who’s to say that traditional is necessarily the better choice? A tasteful pastel polka dot pattern or stripe can also be a suitable baptism gift. Linen covered albums are becoming popular as well.
Handmade Gifts
A handmade gift is another excellent choice for marking this special day. These days it isn’t so common for everyone to be able to sew, knit or crochet, but never fear. Many small boutiques and shops, as well as bazaars, can be excellent sources for handmade gifts. Just because they’re not handmade by you, doesn’t mean they can’t be just as memorable.
Personalized Gifts
Personalized items can also be thoughtful baptism gifts. A silver plated rattle or cup with the baby’s initials monogrammed on them are a traditional baptism gift. But you could also have a blanket or stuffed animal monogrammed and have something just as special. If you’d like to give something that might be considered more practical, a picture frame engraved with the child’s name could be the perfect choice. Any gift such as these would be welcomed by most families, but these are not the sort of gifts you’re likely to find at the mall or major retailers. If your city or town does not feature the sort of boutiques or children’s stores that stock such items, you might find success searching online retailers. Places like eBay are filled with people who make such things and sell them for a little extra money. With some careful searching, you might find the perfect memorable handmade gift.
