List building is not just a matter of handing over some money to a person who then reaches out into the internet and whips a list up for you so you can sell to them and make heaps of money.
If it was that easy I would be rich now because I tried that and it does not work so well.
In fact, it is important to understand that buying your list or leads from other people generally does not work.
Building a list is about marketing your offer over and over again in several different ways. Once the people join your list, you need to follow through with your offer and produce a reason for them to keep reading your email.
Once you do that a few times, you will find yourself in a position where these people will begin to trust you and it then, and only then, will you start making the good money from your list.
If you are getting the feeling this is hard work and requires time, this is fantastic news. Then you have come to the realization that business online is a lot like business offline.
It requires work and a good plan.
Making a good plan reduces the stress and work load of building a list because it gives you focus and a clear idea that it will take at least a year before the good results begin coming in. This gives you patience for results and the knowledge that there are good and bad periods to the flow of recruiting.
What you need in your plan is a goal that can be answered with a yes or a no. For example, in one year I will be earning $4000 a month from my online efforts.
Now you need a plan to get there, with a list of daily tasks you need to do to fulfill the plan.
Such as – I will use traffic exchanges every day for 30 minutes, send adverts through safelists for 10 minutes, write one article and submit it to 10 directories and write to one member in my list personally to say hello and thank you every three or four days and get a feel for what they think.
If this sounds all a little too simple, don’t be fooled, it is hard work. And it is testing at times, especially when results are slow.
But if it was easy, everyone would succeed, and I know this sounds cynical, but the world won’t allow that to happen without a fight.
Which is why succeeding is a worthwhile activity.
